Welcome

Shakeup (Blog)

Upon assessment I think what I need to do first before new equipment be in music or visual is expand my work area pretty significantly. In the current computer system I use a mini PC and laptops. Like the one I’m writing on. It’s a smaller size sometimes that’s conducive to writing. Right now it fills the current table. The item I linked would make a decent work table for stuff. My current pick is a folding table designed for churches and large group venues. 4’ by 8’. It should be plenty big for what I have in mind.

Well anyway so with that lower area. The thought is to build a wooden stanchion out of 2×4 and plywood. Cap the ends. Plus add on risers go up. I’ll have to study the dimensions a bit more thoroughly but if there are shelving units where you could put a couple down below while having them rise behind the table. You know withoutcutting one of the shelves in half or something. I have a larger set that is adjustable but it’s too wide for this. It’s four feet by eight feet. It’s meant for churches and such but it’s also far cheaper than commercial recording studio furniture although I did look at and was tempted by some of that. And of course I have my current smaller folding table that I bought back in 1999.

Then next to the computers a table top photo studio. So audio stuff get’s a new home too. The surface area under the table is useful too. I do have a couple smaller keyboards for instance. You can just put them away when not in use. One thing I’ve thought about is breakdown sets. Mics and such packed away in a Pelican. I’m not really using the big one for lenses anymore anyway. Then stowed.

  • Although space permitting I might also set up a mic station.
  • One could either make traditional audio recordings or use it to train an AI.
  • It depends.

Currently not that many people have a need for a mirror of their own vocal. I could see it catching on. Particularly with say aspiring models. I was planning on doing some shoots as well so it would be an extra project option. It might actually be fun. Reading things from a teleprompter. It probably depends on the prompts. Thinking along the lines of scripts and theatrical elements. Then you can use it to make your phone messages anytime you want and get the recording perfect. Or perhaps you want to go commercial then adding a theatrical flair might help sell the product. That’s sort of a traditional modeling and marketing application. Except they are signing up in a copyrighted setting where they allow the use of their voices for money. In fact I could manage it. For a cut I’ll see that your proceeds arrive in your wallet in a timely fashion. I do plan to use a voice over AI for some stuff. I’ll probably use special effects and whatnot on it.

What I want right now audio wise is soundtrack. With synthesizer and a couple guitars. Have to see if it’s any good! I’m going in a more regimented directing. Breaking things down in constituent pieces. Taking individual short licks and recording them independently then remixing them using them to break it up. Change direction etc. I have a hunch my target length will be a bit longer. 5-6 minutes comes to mind.

No the network is going to take on a new form. Combining the computing power, audio recording, video editing, and the network. The small form PC is more than adequate to run a linux server and do a local host network. Running things on a server for development purposes but with integrated video remote and a development environment with git. Ultimately though you are probably looking at a compartmentalized situation out of the cloud. Emulating that locally for practice figuring it out. Start setting up a blockchain but on the local network for now. Eventually hopefully moving out into the web world.

The idea though is to develop an application for publishing digital books.

In terms of chains I might just use a software rollup. Focusing on speculative fiction particularly science fiction and fantasy. And of course a publishing platform can publish visually not just old school reading books. Comic books and other media. So like the network will unite the installation on the ground.

The thing about the new setup with the multimedia blockchain approach is it’s applicable to multiple business ideas. I just judge that one of the most likely to produce a million dollars is Web3. It’s been minting billionaires afterall.

I’ve been studying my options as far as adding the honorific doctor to my name. As in a PhD. I could just do history. I have 23 graduate credits there. I’ve always been keen on entrepreneurial pursuits so I was looking at something in that direction. You can actually become an expert in the topic. There’s lots of schools that offer an MBA in Entrepreneurism and while there’s not as many courses online there’s still more than enough. I do have some ideas for history too though I’m working on a history of it. Sure the project has been stalled as of late but I think it’s kind of interesting. You always learn a lot about whatever you spend time researching.

If I like the table though I might get another. There’s another project involving photography. Black and white film in multiple formats needs a darkroom. A darkroom needs a darkroom table. Probably not quite as big. They make a square table that is 5 or 6 feet squared.

So yipie skippy.

4 days off in a row.

The above projects will be at the top of my mind. Shelves to be built and organizing to be done.
